Saul woke up with a start. It was late. He looked over to his companion's sleeping place. Watt was gone! 'What the blazes ..?' Saul thought. He dragged himself to the outhouse, but the three prisoners were still there, tied up and sleeping. He turned round to see, in the early morning mist, a feminine figure walking towards him. 'The savage girl,' he said to himself, and an inexplicable sense of dread came over him.
