Circular in form, the frame surmounted with a gilded silver bow knot and enameled with alternating panels of translucent red and opaque white enamel over an engine-turned ground, the aperture framed in seed pearls. ThIs unique snuffbox was created in 1770 from 3'ooo diamonds and gold and belonged to King of Prussia Frederick the Great. Empress Alexandra, wife of Nikolay II also owned it until 1917. The next owner was Queen Mary, grandmother of HMTQ Elizabeth II.
