Spring is on my mind and I am making appliques to get ready for the new season! These dogwood-like flowers are made with lovely velvet ribbon in a rosy mauve color, the centers are made with ombre ribbon shaped into a stuffed puff. I have added leaves made with another vintage ribbon with a stripe, giving them a unique look. Measures approximately 3.5X5.5", the back is unfished buckram. Wonderful for a gardening hat or headpiece. Do not launder or allow to get wet.

Truly vintage rayon ribbon (80 year old from Switzerland) has been used to create this flower. Rayon accepts dye. The original color has been stripped out and the ribbon hand-dyed before being made into this beautiful 5-petaled flower that has a sheen and lush texture. Modern Ribbon would never work for a flower such as this one. The center is rhinestone and beads. The leaves are also hand dyed applique with beads.
