A remarkably roseate, flowery cluster of deeply purple gem amethyst crystals: Perched aesthetically on a bit of matrix is a vertical cluster of glassy and gemmy, rich purple amethyst crystals, highlighted by the largest crystal which measures 6.2 cm in length. The mass is 84 grams. This is from a find of 2015 - 2016, and one of the finest small cabinet specimens I have seen in recent years, of this gorgeous Mexican classic.

Amethyst is a purple form of quartz. I became fascinated with the structure of the crystals after zooming in on this photograph of an amethyst geode that I took a week ago in New Hampshire at Gemstar Gemstones in Enfield.
