Doctor Samuel Pozzi (1846-1918) by Paul Nadar (1856-1939). This handsome surgeon was eagerly recieved in the salons of the faubourg Saint-Germain, and had many affairs. As a consequence he was referred to by some as 'Doctor Love'. He was murdered by a patient who had gone insane. (See also Sargent's imperious portrait of the same sitter.) His clothing and grooming here are immaculate.
Adolf Loos - Wikipedia
Adolf Franz Karl Viktor Maria Loos (1870 – 1933) was an Austrian and Czechoslovak architect and influential European theorist of Modern architecture. His essay Ornament and Crime advocated smooth and clear surfaces in contrast to the lavish decorations of the Fin de siècle and also to the more modern aesthetic principles of the Vienna Secession.
