These are called "flip-flops". I had never heard of them but I'm totally impressed. This horse is navicular and conventional shoeing for navicular did nothing to help him. With this set up the back half of the foot is just standing on the wedge and is not constricted at all. There is no pour in under the pad. This horse goes totally sound like this. Apparently this is used by the standardbred folks at the race tracks. I'm curious if any other shoers have feedback about this.
